Choosing a burgundy shade for your wedding instantly ups its warmth and sophistication. It’s a royal color that deserves to be the star of the show—so what do you choose for the supporting roles? Of all the trendy winter wedding colors, burgundy is one of the most versatile. You can dress it up or down and make it work for dozens of wedding themes.

You also don’t have to wear burgundy dresses only in winter. With the right color pairing, they can be a sizzling spring choice too. Today we explore nine color palettes that put burgundy in the spotlight.

1. Burgundy, Blush Pink, Gray

One way to make the deep, dark side of burgundy pop is to pair it with something light and feminine—blush pink. Even though this color combo is warm, it can work for many different skin tones. Choose styles of burgundy bridesmaid dresses that also come in blush pink for a traditional and coordinated look.

To bring it all together, grab some light pink roses and dark gray groomsmen suits. A neutral (yet dark) tone for the suits will allow the ladies’ pinks and reds to take center stage while preventing the groomsmen from looking washed out.

2. Burgundy and Baby or Pastel Blue

To make burgundy look a bit lighter and fresher, you can pair it with any type of light blue. Like with blush pink, the combination of light and dark will create a striking contrast you can’t help but love. The warmth of the red offsets the coolness of the blue to create a look that’s perfectly balanced and easy on the eye.

This combination is ideal for mix-and-match bridesmaid dresses—one blue, one burgundy, and so on. Alternatively, go all burgundy with the ladies and put the groomsmen in dusty blue suits. Either way, you’ve got yourself a stunning wedding combination perfect for winter or spring.

3. Burgundy, Navy Blue, and Silver

If you like the idea of blue and burgundy but want it a little more elevated and formal, skip the pastel and go for navy instead. Together, navy blue and burgundy make a regal combination best for formal affairs and swanky wedding soirees. Both colors are associated with tradition and academia and pair naturally with silver (or even gold) accents.

Start with burgundy bridesmaid dresses in a heavy, matte fabric, then pair them with suits in a deep navy blue. Sticking with tradition, the flowers should be blood-red roses and the tables dotted with shiny silverware and candlesticks.

4. Burgundy, Cream, and Gold

Gold and cream will give your burgundy wedding theme a warmer touch while keeping the glamor going. A good way to bring this color palette to life is with alternating bridesmaid’s dresses or by dressing the bridesmaids all in burgundy with a creamy off-white bridal gown.

Throw in a few flecks of gold with glittery lotions and hairsprays to give everyone a shimmery glow. For table settings, go for a candlelit dinner with porcelain plating. If you prefer something slightly more eclectic, there’s always vintage earthenware and burgundy wildflowers.

5. Burgundy and Burnt Orange

If warm and rustic is what you’re after, pairing burgundy with burnt orange is a winning combination. The two colors are equally strong and striking, making for an eye-catching pair. Dressing your bridesmaids in variations of each shade will create an ombré effect best suited for fall weddings.

Alternatively, keep things simple with your bridesmaid’s dresses and bring in the burnt orange with table settings and decor. Use flowers like freesia and carnations for a rustic, farmhouse look—or go for purple dahlias and clematis for a dark and vampy aesthetic.

6. Burgundy and Sage Green

A deep hue like burgundy looks even more striking alongside a light and delicate shade. Soft sage green can be that shade! This combination is ideal for daytime weddings in the spring. Use burgundy bridesmaid dresses with deep red undertones to contrast and complement the natural landscape. Then, bring in the sage green with the groomsmen’s outfits.

You can do this with pocket squares, corsages, and other accessories or commit to the look with dusty green suits. Combine the two colors in table decor and bouquets to bring the palette together with a few finishing touches.

7. Burgundy and Gray

Like navy blue, gray has a formal, sophisticated feel that complements burgundy’s regal undertones. Using this palette is simple—dress the bridesmaids in burgundy and the groomsmen in gray, and voila! You’ve got yourself a beautiful bridal party. For ties and pocket squares, go for light pink or black to avoid being matchy-matchy.

If you like a darker theme, choose a charcoal gray for tablecloths or runners. This will bring out the burgundy of the centerpieces and make white crockery more noticeable. If you need metallic elements, try rose gold as a nod to the red-adjacent theme.

8. Burgundy, Plum, and Lilac

What happens when you pair three rich shades of purple together? You get a dark yet whimsical wedding palette perfect for romantic evening nuptials by candlelight. This color combination can be made vampy and mysterious for an alternative or even witchy wedding.

To make it work, choose a shade for your bridesmaids and use the others for bouquets and decor. With this palette, more is more. You could try mixing and matching bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen suits to create a gorgeous ombré look. The great thing about using shades from the same color family is that they never clash! With burgundy, plum, and lilac, there will always be harmony.

9. Burgundy and Emerald Green

Finally, we come to a timeless winter classic—burgundy and emerald green. This combination is all about the holidays. It’s warm, romantic, and cheery, not to mention very fun. You can use both colors for the bridesmaid dresses or choose just one and bring in the other using bouquets.

For table settings and decor, keep the holiday theme going with some pinecones, red candles, and winter wreaths. Use warm, subtle lighting to make it cozy and inviting and keep the tableware and cloths icy white for a sophisticated touch.
